One photographic essay, ranked by hand, every day.
Valguskaader OÜ · Viljandi, Estonia · Effective 2026-04-11
videozone is a small independent subscription site for photographic visual essays. The premise is deliberately narrow: every morning a tiny editorial team watches the new essays submitted by photographers and filmmakers around the world, argues over them, and ranks exactly thirty. One sits at number one until midnight your local time. Then the list resets and we begin again.
What members get
- All thirty ranked picks each day, refreshed at 00:00 in your own timezone.
- The full archive of 1,860 visual essays from 41 countries.
- Curatorial framing — documentary, landscape, street, portrait, fine-art and analog work, chosen for attention rather than volume.
- Web access on any modern browser: desktop, tablet, and phone.
What we deliberately avoid
No infinite feed. No autoplay rabbit hole. No engagement model optimising for your evening. We are not trying to show you everything — only the one essay worth your full attention today. We will only ever claim features we have actually built: at present there is no native mobile app, no smart-TV app, and no offline downloads.
Who runs it
videozone is operated by Valguskaader OÜ, a private limited company registered in Estonia at Uus tn 33-1, 71007 Viljandi. Our founder and lead curator is Mateo Herrera. You can reach the team at [email protected].
Photographers and filmmakers are welcome to submit work for editorial consideration — see the contact page.
